Ashley Perez responded to our question, “Jason Harris is the fastest runner. My favorite thing about the run is having the time to run by yourself, to think about what you are running.” When asked what she thinks about as she’s running, Ashley said, “Just the food I’m going to eat after, because it’s food.” What is the weirdest thing that has happened to you while running?  “The weirdest thing was when I saw a snake while running.” What is the most challenging part of the race? “That sometimes the places we run have a lot of holes, so there’s the possibility to get hurt.” Why does running make you happy? “Running is great because you have time to yourself, time  to take a personal time.” How do you psyche yourself up for a run?  “Just thinking positive and the food I’m going to eat afterwards!”

Alexandra Tabarez agreed that Jason was the fastest runner. “My favorite part of the actual run is the hills. The weirdest thing that happened to my while running was when I tripped going up a hill. Why does running make you happy? “Because I don’t have to do homework while I’m running!” Why do you run when there is so little fan support at the meets? “I run my best because you can’t just let them down.”

Mia Villanueva likes running because “it’s not being at home and it’s not doing homework. The worst thing that has happened to me while running what when I twisted my ankle.”

Odman Camargo states, “My favorite part of the actual race is speeding at the end! I think of good things while I’m running.” What was the worst thing that has happened to you while running? “I sprained my ankle.” When does running make you happy? “When I run without stopping!”

Ashley Gannet said the weirdest thing that has happened was “almost falling from the hill.” When asked what was the most challenging about the races, she stated, “The hills.” Why do you run? “I run because it is a tradition in my family.”

Coach Henry agreed that Jason Harris was the best fastest runner on the team. “My favorite part is watching the very end and seeing if people will kick it in to the finish line. I don’t run, but I watch the kids run, see if they use the proper form, are they taking enough breaths, and watching for the potholes because I don’t want to see any one hurt themselves.” What  is the weirdest thing that has happened to you while coaching cross country for you first time? “The other week we ran our first meet and three of our members ran the course twice, two times in a row when they weren’t suppose to and no one noticed. They could have come in first place!” Why does running make the students happy? “Because it feels good to run. It’s a sense of accomplishment. When you run a long way, you’re like, ‘wow I really finished that!’ I think that’s what makes them happy and it makes Genesis’s mom happy because it made him run.”  Why do they run when there is little fan support at the meets? “Because they’re running for themselves. They don’t care about the other people. It’s all about their personal goal– that’s what running is about.” How do you psyche your runners up for the race? “I just tell them to go out there and do their best.”
