When Karla Revollo was asked what do she liked about robotics, she said, “What I like about robotics is that we get to build and interact with other people. We get to cooperate and help each other with building and such activities.” What would you like to see in this years robotics team? “For this years robotics team I guess I would like to see programming and just technology.” Are you excited for the tournament, if you do go to a tournament? “I guess I would probably be happy, but I have doubts about it. I haven’t placed first place except in reading, so I’m not so sure we’ll get any placement.” What are you excited about? “I’m excited about building and striking and interacting with each other!”

When Jonathan Salgado was asked what he liked about robotics, he said, “I like that we get to build and program robots.” What do you do in robotics? “We start to build legos off of the computer and once we’re done programming them, we get to build them.” Do you like robotics so far? “I like robotics because you get play with the legos and you get to spend time with your friends.” What  would you like to see in this year’s robotics team? “Honestly, I would like to see us at least get placed in the tournament.”

When Antonio Gonzalez was asked what he liked about robotics, he said, “You get to build and program robots.” What do you do in robotics? “You build and program robots.” What would you like to see in this years robotics team? “That we win the tournament.”

When Javier Melendez was asked if he liked robotics, he said, “I just think its cool.” What do you do in robotics? “Research stuff and work with other people.” What do you need to be good at robotics? “Honestly, there’s no requirements. You can just join in and do whatever you would like. You can program the robot, research or something else.” What would you like to see for this year’s robotics team? “I would actually like to get into the championships this year and maybe actually win, that would be nice.” So did you do any tournaments last year?”No they got canceled”

When Mrs.Reno was asked why she liked coaching robotics, she said,”Because it enhances the communication-the kids have to communicate with each other, they learn what teamwork is about and what true meaning of being an engineer is.” What do you do in robotics? “This particular team of robotics is a team of 10, they go to a competition usually in December. We have different parts: we have a robot designer which designs the robots to do different missions. There are 10 to 12 missions they have to complete; We also have a group that is working on the research project. This year happens to be about the water cycle, the human water cycle and what the needs are of the humans in that area. Then the third part is that they are working on how to use the core values within the project itself.”

Did you go to any tournaments last year? “Last year we were supposed to go to a tournament in December, but it was weathered out by an ice storm. They rescheduled it, but it was weathered out again. So what they did (the first year in all of the years that we have done this) is that teams got chosen by a lottery. Argentine Middle School was chosen.” What would you like to see in this years robotics team? “Their goal this year is to get a flag so that they can go to Regionals at Union Station.” What do students need to be good to be in robotics? “Nothing! The only thing they need to be good at, is knowing how to be a team player and really working as a team. Because you can’t just go with one idea, you have to go with multiple ideas and then determine how do we come up with the one idea that we are going to use.”
